Welcome to the new Surplus Record magazine! This is the first time since 1955 our publication has undergone a complete re-design, and only the second time in our entire 99 years of printing our publication! First let’s knock a few questions out of the way…
- Why the change? We wanted to evolve the magazine to fit with today’s needs. While the “old school” directory was great for when it came out, with all the advancements in technology improvements over the past decade, we wanted to build a better publication that was more inviting to the next generation entering the industrial world. As the saying goes, “photos are worth a 1,000 words” We wanted the ability to showcase our Dealers equipment as a photo in full color and create a better connection between our website which houses over 110,000 listings and our magazine! This also goes back to the roots of Surplus Record’s original magazine which included larger images of machines for sale.
- What’s new in the SR magazine? A lot! Besides the magazine being nearly double the size, it’s now in full color, and now you can see images of the machines or electrical equipment for sale to give you a better understanding of the type of equipment you are looking at while giving dealers a chance to showcase the best of the best! Each listing now has “SR ID#” next to it that if you type in the search bar on SurplusRecord.com, it pulls up the listing instantly so you can view all the photos and read the specifications or find similar listings from that Dealer or Category page. There’s a lot more going on behind the scenes as well to make it a better reading experience, but those are the highlights!
- What’s on the horizon? A lot of metalworking equipment, processing equipment, cnc machinery, motors, transformers, generators, breakers…- oh you meant on the horizon for Surplus Record and not in this magazine? We plan on making several more improvements to the magazine as future issues are released and feedback is collected. We are also exploring letting our Dealers generate their own customized “private label” magazines which is 100% their own equipment using our newly built online magazine generating software integrated into our new website! We have lots of new technology and marketing features rolling out on our website to attract more buyers for industrial equipment and help dealers with little to no web presence by leveraging their existing listings on SR.
