Universal Grinders

Universal grinders, sometimes called universal cylindrical grinders, are precision machines used to grind both external and internal surfaces on cylindrical parts. Unlike plain grinders, which can only handle straight external grinding, universal grinders are equipped with a swiveling wheelhead and an adjustable table that allow for taper, contour, and internal grinding operations. Modern CNC universal grinders automate these movements, providing higher accuracy, repeatability, and faster setup for complex or multi-step grinding jobs. These machines are commonly measured by their center height, swing diameter, and distance between centers.
