WHILE MOTORING through the Rocky Mountain states, we found upon inquiry among the people of this section that sentiment was strongly in favor of the Republican nominee for President. One Idaho business man expressed the opinion rather pointedly by saying that in his community the people who believed in working and paying their bills were supporting Wendell Willkie for the Presidency.
The significant thought in our mind regarding this Presidential Election is that it is a campaign of Americanism vs. New Dealism. Individuals with dictatorial ambitions have no place in a nation which raised itself by its bootstraps. And if we know the Surplus Machinery Industry, it is in itself composed of men who were dependent upon no one for support or coddling.
Our expressions regarding this political situation are motivated purely by a sincere feeling of Americanism which wants to preserve the regular order of things upon which this country was founded— Initiative!
