LAST MONTH, in the “Defense Progress Issue” of Surplus Record we presented what we think was the largest amount of advertising of used and rebuilt machinery ever gathered together in a single issue of a single publication.
No clearer indication of the earnest patriotic effort being made by dealers could possibly be presented. We recommend it to the various governmental agencies as well as to war materials contractors who are so loudly proclaiming the need for tools to carry on the extensive production programs laid down for the future ―and Victory!
We have insisted more and more frequently of late that the part the used and rebuilt machinery dealer is playing is indeed an important one. The men in this Industry have a type of service to offer that is most valuable. Properly applied it can save both time and money for manufacturers of war materials today just as it has for factories in highly competitive fields in peacetime.
It is our contention that defense contractors everywhere should recognize the fact that the purchase and sale of used and rebuilt machinery is economically sound. It is also our contention that the quickest, most direct, most practical method of reallocating a used machinery and equipment inventory is through recognized dealers and through recognized legitimate trade channels.
