The RK Series proves outstanding precision.Simple mechanical design combines with advanced features to make these machines remarkably accurate (0.1 micron).
Cincinnati Milacron has reduced the number of parts in the RK Series by 42% while improving grinding performance.Pneumatics have been removed and most hydraulics have been replaced by smooth running electric drives.Complex computer programming has been replaced by simple state-of-the-art operator controls.(See options for additional controls selections).
Mechanical design of the RK Series helps keep set up easy.The grinding wheel position is fixed, rigidly mounted to the machine bed. An upper/lower slide arrangement, under the regulating wheel and work rest, swivel together with a single adjustment for quick, accurate adjustment of taper or wheel contact.
BASIC 350-20 RK CENTERLESS MACHINE DESCRIPTION
- Epoxy granite machine base. 1,000,000 lbs. static stiffness.
- Advanced design upper and lower slide utilizing an anti-friction way system.
T.H.K. slides.
- Swivel plate with anti-back lash single screw adjustment.
- Regulating wheel housing with double-ended spindle support.
- Variable speed regulating wheel drive system (15-300 RPM) AC brush less Servo motor, RPM selectable.
- FILMATIC double ended support(TWIN GRIP) style grinding wheel spindle bearing system with hydro static lift at spindle start up.
- Single axis slide drive, utilizing precision backlash-free, pre loaded heavy duty 2.500(63.5 mm) diameter ball screw with A.C. brush less Servo motor, providing two-way compensation, and 0.000004 (0.1 micron)resolution.
- Rear mounted control station provides slide axis compensation push buttons for machine size adjustments. This control station also includes an emergency stop push button.
- Externally mounted main drive motor and hydraulic pump unit.
- Machine arranged for central coolant supply.
- Standard machine operation using INCH measure.
- Electrical equipment wire din accordance with ANSI/NFPA 79 Electrical Standards for Metal Working Machine Tools. Motors are 460 volts,3 phase, 60 Hz. A.C.
- Machine mounted electrical cabinet.
- The Servo motors are controlled by a state-of-the-art multi-axis dedicated motion controller (DMC). Logic functions are controlled by Allen Bradley controls.
PRECISION COMPONENTS
RK machines are built on an epoxy granite base, selected for its superior rigidity, vibration damping and thermal characteristics which provides the base with one million pounds static stiffness.
RK Centerless slides combine anti-friction ways, brush less AC servo motors, precision ball screws and digital feed back.The results give you two-way compensation with 0.000004 (0.1 micron) resolution.

FILMATIC grinding wheel spindle bearings with hydro static lift provide long lasting, hydrodynamic, self-centering support which is consistent under varying grinding loads. GRINDINGWHEEL DRIVE
Variable speed AC grinding wheel drive is available to grind at a constant surface speed with theDMC. Alternate, higher horse power motors can also be furnished at additional cost.
