Equipment Overview
This offering consists of a complete Mansell and Associates SuperMelt rotary aluminum furnace system. The furnace was purchased new with the upgraded SuperMelt option and a dedicated dumper-type charge machine. The equipment is in like-new condition and was never commissioned or placed into production service, providing a buyer the opportunity to acquire a substantially complete furnace and air-pollution-control package without the operating wear normally associated with used process equipment.
The furnace is designed around a hydraulically tilting rotary barrel mounted on a swivel base. The manufacturer describes the SuperMelt configuration as capable of swiveling approximately 350 degrees around the base, allowing the furnace to serve multiple pouring and discharge positions. This layout can reduce container movement and improve the sequence between molten-metal pouring, transfer to a holding furnace or molds, and dross discharge.
Condition & Commissioning Status
Important Buyer Note
This system was purchased new, remains in like-new condition, and was never commissioned at the seller’s facility. It has not been placed into production service. Prospective buyers are encouraged to inspect the equipment and verify the current condition, completeness, utility requirements and installation scope before purchase.
SuperMelt Swivel-Base Upgrade
The SuperMelt option is the key upgrade distinguishing this unit from a conventional straight-tilting rotary furnace. According to the manufacturer, the patented design combines a tilting furnace frame with a swivel base that allows the furnace to rotate around the base perimeter. The manufacturer states that the arrangement can reduce cycle time by allowing the furnace to move between pouring and discharge stations rather than requiring receiving equipment to be repeatedly repositioned.
· Approximately 350-degree swivel movement around the furnace base.
· Multiple potential pouring and discharge positions around the furnace perimeter.
· Circular hood designed to encircle the furnace and capture smoke and fumes as the unit changes position.
· Hydraulic tilting for controlled pouring of molten aluminum and discharge of dross or residual solids.
· Patented barrel geometry using the material’s angle of repose to help retain dross and solids while molten metal is poured.
· Manufacturer-stated potential to reduce cycle time by up to 35%, depending on process layout and application.
Dumper-Type Charge Machine
A dedicated dumper-type charge machine is included with the package. The charge machine is intended to mechanize the loading of scrap into the furnace, reduce manual handling at the hot face, and support a more controlled and repeatable charging sequence. The final buyer should verify the charge-machine hopper volume, load rating, controls, dimensions and utility requirements from the equipment nameplate and field measurements.

Operating Concept
1. Charge material is loaded through the 36-inch front opening using the included dumper-type charge machine.
2. The barrel rotates at a controlled speed between approximately 0.5 and 6 RPM during the melt cycle.
3. The natural-gas burner supplies heat while the rotating barrel promotes mixing and heat transfer.
4. The furnace is hydraulically tilted to pour molten aluminum.
5. The swivel base allows the furnace to move toward different receiving stations, such as molds, sows, crucibles, a transfer container or a holding furnace.
6. After molten metal is poured, the furnace can be repositioned and rotated to discharge dross and remaining solids into a separate receiving pan.
Potential Applications
The system was purchased for aluminum melting and recovery. Suitability for any specific feedstock, alloy, production rate or recovery objective must be evaluated by the buyer. Potential applications may include secondary aluminum recovery, scrap remelting, dross processing, alloy preparation and production of sow or ingot feed.
