CATL EnerX 5.64 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for Sale
DESCRIPTION
ARC Power Systems is offering several Brand New 5.64 MWh containerized battery energy storage DC blocks for utility-scale storage, renewable energy integration, and commercial or industrial energy projects. These units came available to us from a cancelled project.
Each 20-foot high-cube container integrates lithium iron phosphate batteries (LiFePO or LFP), battery management, liquid cooling and heating, and protective systems. Designed for integration into solar-plus-storage, peak-shaving, and microgrid projects with compatible power conversion and project controls.
DC blocks only. PCS inverter/transformer skids are available separately at additional cost; provide total unit quantity for PCS pricing. AC output, operating duration, and site performance depend on configuration and project design.
Auxiliary supply: 50/60 Hz both supported. AC output frequency depends on the supplied PCS/inverter

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS): Frequently Asked Questions
Buying a containerized BESS? These answers explain battery capacity, runtime, installation requirements, and what to review when sourcing commercial, industrial, or utility-scale energy storage.
1. What is a battery energy storage system (BESS)?
A BESS stores electricity in rechargeable batteries and releases it when needed. A complete installation combines batteries with power conversion equipment, controls, and protection. Batteries can charge from the utility grid, renewable generation, or a compatible on-site power system.
2. What are commercial and industrial BESS units used for?
Common uses include reducing peak electricity demand, shifting energy use to different hours, storing renewable power, and supporting backup power or microgrids. The equipment and controls must be designed for the intended application; one battery package does not automatically provide every function.
3. How is a BESS different from a diesel or natural gas generator?
A generator produces electricity from fuel. A BESS stores electricity supplied by another source and has a limited discharge duration before it needs recharging. Many projects combine batteries and generators to balance short-term power needs with longer-duration generation.
4. What is the difference between MW and MWh?
Megawatts (MW) measure power: how much electricity a system can deliver at a given moment. Megawatt-hours (MWh) measure stored energy: how much electricity is available over time. Buyers need both ratings to understand whether a BESS can support their load for the required duration.
5. How long can a 5.64 MWh BESS provide power?
Runtime depends on usable energy and the load being served. The CATL EnerX 0.25P manual lists 5,644.29 kWh of rated energy and 1,411.07 kW of rated DC charge/discharge power. Dividing those ratings gives a nominal four-hour duration. Delivered AC runtime also depends on inverter losses, battery condition, operating limits, and auxiliary loads.
6. How do I choose the right BESS size for my project?
Start with the required power in MW and the operating time in hours. For example, a 1 MW load operating for four hours requires 4 MWh of delivered energy. System sizing must then account for losses, reserve capacity, battery aging, temperature, and peak loads.
7. What is an LFP battery?
LFP stands for lithium iron phosphate, a lithium-ion battery chemistry commonly used in stationary energy storage. The EnerX manual identifies its battery bank as LFP. Battery chemistry is one part of system selection, alongside usable capacity, power, controls, cooling, and safety documentation.
8. What does liquid-cooled BESS mean?
A liquid-cooled battery container circulates coolant to manage battery temperature. Cooling equipment, coolant condition, maintenance requirements, and auxiliary electrical consumption are important parts of a buyer's technical review. The documented CATL EnerX 0.25P configuration uses liquid cooling.
9. Can a BESS work with solar panels or wind turbines?
Yes. Properly integrated battery storage can store renewable electricity for later use and help manage changing generation output. Solar and wind projects need compatible inverters, controls, protection, and an operating strategy matched to the site's electrical system.
10. Can battery storage work with existing generators?
Yes, when designed as an integrated hybrid power system. Batteries and diesel or natural gas generators can operate under coordinated controls. The design must address charging, load sharing, protection, and operating priorities; compatibility depends on the equipment and project requirements.
11. Can a BESS provide backup power for a data center or industrial facility?
Yes, with an appropriate backup-power design. Operation during a grid outage requires suitable inverter capabilities, controls, and isolation from the utility grid. Data centers also need the required transfer times, power quality, and UPS compatibility addressed. A grid-connected battery installation is not automatically an outage-ready backup system.
12. Does a battery container include the inverter and transformer?
The supply scope varies. A battery container and a complete AC energy storage system are different equipment packages. A finished installation may require a separate power conversion system (PCS), transformer, switchgear, controls, cabling, and commissioning. Request an itemized equipment list identifying exactly what is included.
13. Can multiple BESS containers be combined into a larger system?
Yes, where the equipment and project design support it. Larger installations can use multiple battery containers with coordinated power conversion equipment and controls. The electrical arrangement, communications, protection, and approved expansion limits determine how the units can be combined.
14. How much space does a containerized BESS require?
Each unit is a standard 20'ft high cube container that weights just under 100k lbs. These are equipment dimensions, not a complete site footprint. Additional space is needed for associated equipment, maintenance access, and required installation clearances.
15. Which BESS safety certifications and test reports should buyers request?
Request documentation matching the battery and complete system configuration. UL 1973 addresses stationary batteries; UL 9540 covers energy storage systems and equipment; UL 9540A evaluates thermal runaway fire propagation. A UL 9540A test report is not the same as UL 9540 system certification. Local fire, electrical, and installation requirements also apply.
16. How long do BESS batteries last, and what should surplus buyers review?
Battery life depends on age, cycling, temperature, operating limits, and maintenance. For surplus or previously operated units, request manufacturing dates, storage and operating records, alarm history, capacity-test results, and warranty terms. A nameplate energy rating does not establish the battery's present usable capacity.
17. How much does a containerized BESS cost?
Cost depends on energy capacity, inverter power, condition, equipment scope, shipping, installation, interconnection, and commissioning. Compare offers using the same equipment and service scope. A battery-container price and the cost of an installed, operating AC system cover different deliverables.
18. Where can I buy CATL EnerX BESS units?
Contact ARC Power Systems for current CATL EnerX availability, technical documents, equipment scope, and a project-specific quotation. Tell us your required MW, desired runtime or MWh, project region, application, and target operating date.
