3MT builds custom pellet mill feeding systems for wood and biomass pelleting operations handling materials ranging from clean dry sawdust to low density wood shavings and mixed biomass fiber.

Wood and biomass feeding problems are almost always a design issue rather than a material issue. Sawdust flows well when the system is designed correctly. Wood shavings are trickier — low bulk density and interlocking fiber create bridging and inconsistent flow that show up directly in pellet quality and mill stability.

3MT designs biomass feeding systems around how the material actually behaves. For low density materials like wood shavings we use a starve feed approach — keeping bin levels intentionally lower to prevent bridging and maintain consistent flow into the mill. Where the material requires it agitators and flow aids can be integrated directly into the PSM hopper or upstream bulk bins.

3MT has PSM feeders running wood shavings in active production. Every system is custom built to fit your specific mill height, building layout, and material characteristics.

One important note — wood and biomass materials typically require proper drying upstream before the feeding system. Once your material is at the right moisture range the PSM keeps it moving consistently to the mill.
